What an interesting day. I've never seen so many crashes and red flag incidents as I have today, and this was before the rain hit. One old dude took his brand new 1098 for a nice slide out of Turn 3. There were two oil spills in the first med/fast session, 5 riders off. Glad it was full and I booked into the Med/Slow.

Weather was fine until session 5 when the rain hit, I did 3 laps and decided I don't want to bin my $18000 bike. That ad the heater doesn't work in the van so it would have been a cold drive home. :P

The GSXR's gearing is way too tall for this track, 2nd and 3rd were the only gears I needed apart from the straight. No idea what times I was running, felt faster than the Ninja. A whole lot smoother thats for sure. I need a timekeeper.

There was a guy on a Desmo RR as well, and he was actually riding it, in the Fast group no less. Nice.

Latest Rapid August Issue

RAPID BIKES August Issue Out Now!

Time flies when you’re having fun! It’s hard to believe the August issue of Rapid Bikes is now on sale, and it looks like being the best one yet!
The time has rolled around for the annual 1000cc comparo, and with new bikes coming from Honda and Kawasaki, along with the established chargers from Suzuki, Yamaha, Ducati and Aprilia, it’s sure to be a tough contest.
Also in this months issue, Rennie goes nuts on BMW’s sensational HP2 Mega Moto and the Ninja 250 is subject to the Quick Test examination.
It doesn’t get much better for modified bike lovers either. Our feature bike is Leonard Azzopardi’s awesome Nitro-burning Top-Bike contender, all 1200-horsepower of it! Next on the list is Byron Manthey’s turbo sleeper 929, followed by the funky 1960s Funny-Car inspired “Spooky” GSX-R1100 drag bike and Ben Rumsy’s WSBK-style R1.
The first-half of our IOM TT report will keep your eyes glued to the pages, as will the final instalment of the legendary Ron Toombs’s career, as told by his good mate Tony Hatton. Workshop explains GPS data logging, Used Ride for August is the 2003 R6, and our Tuned Ride is the classic GS1000 Suzuki.

OK, I wont complain about the goat track ......... yeah I will, who's bloody idea was that, and whos idea was it to send me out in front .... PABS!!! I felt like I was the crash test dummy. It's all good, I'm tough, and I quite enjoyed it as a riding experience ... one that I will avoid in the future  You learn a lot about your bike on roads like that, and you learn a lot about yourself too, like the pain thresh-hold, a kidney belt would have been worthwhile.

It was certainly a great day, nice weather, mostly good company  (who invited that midget and the old dude    ) a good feed, and an awesome run ... or three  through O'Sullivans with Squishy as a chase bunny. I was quite proud of myself for being able to tag with Squishy (aka: Squash, aka: Josh) after all, he is much more experienced on a sports bike than me, and had a much better bike, but I kept my composure, didn't push toooo hard, and stayed close all the way. That was really the first 'balls and all run' I have done on the Ninja, and coming from the Hyo cruiser, its a big difference.

Nice to meet some new riders, hope you all enjoyed the day, hope to see you all on another ride soon

Get your gear on, start your engine, c'mon it's not that coldTongue out

See more stories & photos inside.

C you all next ride day.
